DescriptionI'm so, so sad that looking at the scan is NOWHERE near as amazing and spectacular as this piece is in real life. It is just exquisite. A successor to the Wrightson ethos and legacy. There - I said it. Mike Perkins has gone to town on this DPS. The eyeball will immediately gross you out - it's so fucking good. It's raining, and you know in your bones that it’s bad news. A person's sinews and viscera are being stretched into a new form. Outstanding. Thanks to Mike and Rubén da! Social/Sharing |

I love how the top half of the dps is composed of 16 panels, each an individual image, while the bottom half is also composed of 16 panels yet they combine to hold a single image of Levi, who is "going through some things". The way in which Perkins illustrated Levi's struggle makes it so the reader can almost feel his excruciating pain. As you mentioned, Mikail, the textures make that eyeball panel look spectacular, with a real three dimensional quality!

Reminds me of Frank in Hellraiser coming back to life. It is also pointing back to "Anatomy Lesson" as to reason the Swamp Thing is taking this human form.

Perkins just gets Swamp Thing. He's the perfect artist for the title, as evinced by amazing spreads like this. The progression is perfect, and slightly nightmarish, which is 100% the imagery you want to see with Swampy. Great pick up. Congrats!

Absolutely amazing DPS! Even without any preknowlege of earlier Swamp Thing series or Wrightson etc., this would be a standout image, but you are so right about this carrying on the legacy in great style. A worthy successor! Love the textures, emotion, and design. Perkins obviously put a lot of thought into the overall layout as well as every detail in each of the window panes in this piece. Don't know if it was intended, but I see an expressionistic face of ST in the pattern of light and dark on the right half of the DSP, with the two eyeballs at the top and lettering forming part of his teeth.

You see what the green wants you to see! Thanks for the kind words.

Man, you're probably still poring over this! So much gruesome intricacy throughout. Congrats, man!
