DescriptionBatman #15 (Volume 3 / Rebirth) Cover by Tim Sale.I showed up to NYCC 2021 with a portfolio of art I was willing to part with or move to either fund a portion of the convention pickups I would get, or towards a bigger piece of art that better fits my collection. Well, after spending awhile hanging out at Anthony Snyder's booth, some wheeling and dealing ensued. I gave up some pieces and contributed new art inventory for Anthony in the trade, and walked away with this incredibly imposing and strong Tim Sale Batman cover from Batman #15 from the Rebirth volume / Tom King run (which I am a bigger fan of than most modern Batman readers I'm guessing. this story "Rooftops" especially was a standout to me within the run among other issues before the controversial #50 wedding issue) plus some additional cash on top (which I would later use to buy comic books with at the show). I am a huge Batman fan, reader, and collector of both the comics (vintage Golden Age and Silver/Bronze Age, and some modern runs) and Batman OA has become a bigger part of my collecting in recent years as well . Tim Sale is one of the greats when it comes to Batman artwork that I've always admired and sought after, so to own a cover is a true milestone and highlight of my relatively short comic art collecting career thus far. Really couldn't be happier with how it went down and to have this piece in the collection. Thanks again for the wheelin' and dealin' session at the show, and the great cover Anthony! Social/Sharing |

Sweet cover! That piece is worthy of some wheelin' and dealin' to bring home. Great grab!

Thanks Daryl! It was a fun process and Anthony was great to deal with. Felt nice to let my own collection fund one of my biggest pickups of the convention :)

Huge congrats, brother! No easy get I'm sure, and it's a great example of Sale's uber popular Batman work. Dig the tones and the background is just the right amount of enhancement to the whole image. Another checked off the list :)

thank you brother!! I had to give up a few cool pieces but overall I am very happy with the deal because I can appreciate this bad boy daily now and it really enhances my Batman art collection. I really dig the vibe/tones as well like you point out. Stoked to have this one!!

thanks Fisch! You inspired me with how you made moves within your collection to get your Buscema Surfer grail (not that this is on that level at all). I started thinking I should do the same before some of my favorite things are out of reach.

That is great example of Tim's work. Love the negative space at his body. You got a nice cover. Congrats!

Very atmospheric as Sale tends to bring that effect out of his subjects. The dreamlike nature of the piece speaks to the legend as Batman is only fully seen in the dark.

Tim Sale is one of my favorite modern artists. I am particularly a fan of his Long Holloween and Dark Victory books, but good luck getting any Batman splash or cover from those series. But as far as I am concern, your's is as good as it gets. Congrats.

Having been surprised that nobody made a deal with Anthony for this piece on Dueling Dealers, I'm so happy to find out you managed to acquire it. I really love Tim Sale's work too, especially on Long Halloween. Until a key page from that series comes along, I think this is a great substitute. Not only Sale Batman, but a cover!

I have no idea what you had to give up, but the result is surely worth it by acquiring this gem of a Batman cover by Tim Sale! Congrats and successful wheeling and dealing with Anthony! Congrats - thanks for sharing the art and story!

I was eyeing this on dueling dealers and was shocked it not get taken at the time.
Great pick and I would imagine the highlight of the show.

Classic example of Tim Sale's minimalistic style that is still so very provacative. Congrats, Kavi, and thanks for sharing.

Fantastic Batman cover from the legendary Tim Sale. I love the way Sale simplified the elements on this cover to the bare minimum. He simplified the city to one building, drew a few bats flying across a round moon and rendered only Batman's upper torso. It shouldn't work, but it does. Sale knew what he was doing.

Wonderful Cover from the legendary Tim Sale! Love how Batman fades to white (in the colored version it seems like he fades into the night). Huge congrats!

Had to check out the cover and its a great Tim Sale pick up!! Just a classic Tim Sale Batman cover with Gotham behind him. I too am a big fan of King's run and when the series was coming out I made sure to always collect Tim's variant covers!
