DescriptionAmazing Spider-Man #13 (Vol. 5, Legacy #814) Pg. 1 SplashPencils by Ryan Ottley Inks by Cliff Rathburn Written by Nick Spencer Spidey & J Jonah Jameson, frozen in their tracks as a giant version of Big Man (Frederick Foswell Jr.) approaches a stomp with his gigantic boot! As Peter reminisces about the man he has the most complicated relationship with in his life. Heading into this new run of ASM at the time (volume 5, which ran from 2018 to 2022) I was pretty excited about Ryan Ottley getting the star artist duties which he truly deserved after his defining run on Invincible for Image Comics (which I was a big fan of). I was definitely not disappointed by the job Ryan did on Spidey during this run. The story itself by Nick Spencer though to be honest was a bit disappointing overall, but it had some decent moments. I was glad to be able to pick up a splash from an earlier issue that didn't break the bank. Social/Sharing |

This is no time to be a deer in the headlights! You can feel the danger factor!

Wasn't sure about Ottley on ASM but some images, like this one, changed my thoughts on that quick-style! Dramatic splash here, to say the least, and a perfect perspective choice considering what's going on :) Congrats!

Yeah i think that's understandable, after Invincible was done and this was announced I was excited about it but more in a cautiously optimistic sort of way. I think the earlier part of the run is more focused than the latter, but there is awesome Spidey art throughout. I'd love a cover too but those tend to be outside my wheelhouse

I think Ottley on Spiderman was fun, and I love this splash! It definitely could have been a cover! I mean, Spidey, JJJ, and a menacing foot? Beautiful!!!

haha thanks Alberto, I certainly wouldn't complain if it was also a cover but it certainly has good bones, or toes ! JJJ and Spidey on the "same side" makes it fun

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't Spidey push Jonah towards his "SPLAT" death...forever being ridden of his nemesis. Oh wait, this is comics, he'll be back.

So cool, he was like
Webs on a Spider's page
Comics, lines are sweet
That he just drew away
Now the splash be that strong
With the inks of Rathburn
Art I need, call Ottley
Call on me, artwork piece
Come and see me
It's J Jonah I used to need
I'm the same boy they call Kavi

Well, he's definitely a big man, no doubt! Great angle to shoot the scene from and along with the blocked in shadows, lends a lot of drama to the action at hand. Sweet!

Serves J.J.J. right. That "Under the Leaf" story he ran; a Green Giant can only only take so much. Who wants their green bean out there for the whole world to see?

Amazing and frightful splash you got, congrats on this fun piece. Poor J Jonah, he might not have the spidey resilience to get out of this stomp.

I really enjoyed Ryan Ottley's run on Amazing Spider-Man. He explored some odd relationships, like Spider-Man & JJJ and Spider-Man & Boomerang, and most importantly he brought Gog into our lives. So A+++ for Ryan and also for this excellent cover-quality splash!
