DescriptionHeroes For Hire #18 Pg. 15 feat. WolverinePencils by Pasqual Ferry Inks by Jaime Mendoza Written by John Ostrander The Heroes For Hire team (Iron Fist, Colleen Wing) team up with both Wolverine and Shang-Chi (and others like the Cat, Jessica Drew, etc.) in this issue and are undercover as potential bidders/buyers for The Stone Warrior Woman statue (a large statue of Mulan which was being returned to Mulan after being in England since 1900 but then stolen by Pirates), which is being sold at an illegal art auction in Madripoor. The auctioneer unveils the statue and states the bidding begins at $3 million, when Chinese military officers burst in and attack. Suddenly, Wolverine dives into the battle, claws out and ready to pounce. The statue then explodes!! This is a pretty cool 90s Marvel page featuring Wolverine in action that I was able to work out a package deal for along with another piece from fellow CAF collector extraordinaire James S earlier this year (who also spearheaded the amazingly thoughtful get well card jam piece for me at OAX 2024). So very 90s, but the story sounds pretty cool. I love the rocks breaking the panels.

I have never read that series despite my love for Ostrander. Nice, early Ferry art.

Fun Wolverine piece, my comic book collection tries to get all the books that feature X-Men, there are soooo many, then you see a series like this and think you are safe from collecting as it wouldn't have any prime X-Men, ha! Great seeing more examples of 90's Wolverine featured in a series, I had no idea he was in.

Love that SNICK-ety storytelling across the top, followed by the statue literally exploding out of the panel! Effective stuff from Ferry! Congrats!
