It's the distinctive Robbins inks that makes this Batman story work. It's very strong and upon first glance may strike you the wrong way. It's not slick at all. What it is though is a fully formed vision of the Batman world charged with the artist's own expression true to himself and how he did comics. It is a throw back where Robbins romanticizes the pulp and crime era and has plenty of hard hitting action within a story that is organically raw. It has influenced a lot of modern artitsts who have discovered him and saw how much freedom he had straying from the norm.
