DescriptionThe first full appearance of Peter Parker's high school classmate Cindy Moon as the new superhero Silk. A twist on the origin of Spider-Man, the story in #4 reveals that Cindy was also bitten by the radioactive spider at the same time as Peter Parker, but has been in hiding for the 13 years that have passed in 'Marvel time' since 1962.The cover features a full-figured image of the web-covered Silk in silhouette and, significantly, is the only version of the cover to #4 to feature Silk in her superhero persona (the standard version shows a faceless Cindy Moon being bitten by the spider and another variant cover depicts only the Black Cat). Love the partial silhoutte of Silk that still allows Humberto to put in show some of the interesting detail on her figure. From the scan I can see that he drew her full render and then decided how much he wanted to hide in shadow. Very cool. Also, incredible job on all that webbing. Very dramatic and well executed image.

I love that she's feeling the webbing like a spider. And the fine detail at the edge of the ink out, to create a dramatic first appearance image is such a great choice. Love this (historic) cover. Big congrats!

There 'tis! Fits your collection nicely! Always thought the shadowed Cindy figure was so effective for the "mystery" vibe. Definitely makes you wanna open up the comic to see what's up inside! Congrats!

I remember reading this book and picking up a few of the variant covers for this issue. This cover is by far the best! I thought it was a cool storyline, and it was the last time I purchased any Spider-man book regularly. Sure, there's some other 'Spider-Women' out there, but Cindy Moon's costume was her just webbing herself up. And those interactions wsoon after this wiith Peter too.... Great stuff! Another homerun!
