Description10 years ago I got a commission at Boston Comic Con and the rep at Essential asked me if I would be posting the piece to CAF.That interaction turned out to be life altering. I could write a novel but instead I'll let the art do the talking. I've rearranged my featured gallery to show a chronological sample of my journey. I omitted commissions in the later years to keep my sanity. None of this would have been possible without all the friends I've made in the hobby. In my experience it's rare to make good friends later in life, but comic art has done it for me, many times over. Thank you all. Thanks to Zaff & Ryan (Lobobro) for this piece. Social/Sharing |

Badass cover!! If there's one trope I (and many) comic fans can't get enough of it's the heroic figure standing victorious on top of a pile of bodies. Congrats on all the great hobby memories in 10 years, new featured gallery setup looks sweet!

Good looking AB cover, the pile of mangled bodies underneath makes me want to check out the devastation of this series.

'Cause it means destruction of criminal lives
War means tears to thousands of cover's lines

Absolutely Batman, say it again
War, huh, whoa-oh-whoa-oh, Lord
What is ax good for?
Absolutely Batman, listen to me
War, it ain't nothing but a heartbreak

Is the shovel for digging the hole he will bury his enemies in? Looks like it! Gerardo pulled off a magnificent piece here. As I've said before, I think he has since surpassed even his own father's work. Wonderful stuff!

Jaw-dropping cover art to Absolute Batman #9 by Geraldo Zaffino! Stunning depiction of Batman standing on a hill of defeated enemies, his double-bladed axe in hand. Batman's pose conveys a "Is that the best you can do?" sort of attitude. I love Zaffino's composition here, the striking pyramid layout with villains lying at Batman's feet. And this is the perfect cover for Zaffino's destinctive style, with thick black shadows giving Batman a moody, grim appearance. I also love Zaffino's use of screen tones here, which adds yet another layer to the dark, mysterious mood of the art. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!
