DescriptionThe Swamp Thing #7 Pg. 8Art by Mike Perkins Written by Ram V Been awhile since I've been able to post any art, been super busy packing up and then moving, but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel so to speak so I thought I'd take a quick break here and share a piece. I've made it no secret by now that I'm a big fan of this series/title written by Ram V and illustrated by Mike Perkins. Here's a page from issue #7 of the run, part of a 4 page sequence of pages (I don't have all 4 though) which delves more into the origin/background of Levi Kamei the new avatar of The Green. It takes place in India and is a scene between Levi and his father and brother. So it reminds me a lot of my own family, my own brother, my own father. The pages in this sequence really connected with me on a personal level. I have a very complicated relationship with my father, but I of course still love him no matter what. Some of THE BEST pages in these issues are quieter ones, moments between family, between friends. The action stuff is also superb don't get me wrong, but yeah, I'll take this important scene between 3 men in the same family. And the trees. The goddamn mothereffin' Trees. Mike Perkins FTW! Thanks again to Ruben. Social/Sharing |

Such power and emotion, drawn so eloquently. Perkins is perfect....say that 5 times fast....for Swamp Thing. Congrats Kavi.

No doubt a LUSH page, man. Detail, texture, and lighting overload, even for a "quieter" moment. Suh-weet, indeed. Congrats!

You know I never
Avatar green you look so good
You never act Kamei you should
But I like it
And I show you Mike's art too
The page that I want mood
I gotta have mood, oh yes, I do
I never, I never ever trade out page
You wrote that I see Ram V's great
Just to see you
And I know you cannot wait
Wait to see tree fools
I splatter brush you
'Cause, Kavi, we'll be
Talkin' Perkins
In the old Ram's words
Behind wash brushes
'Til I'm screamin' horror
Down the basement
Love your father more
And, Kavi
Talk Jersey to me

This is a great coming of age book. After learning that a stranger has been accidentally killed near their rural homes, the boys decide to go see the body.

I have to say, when Mike started this series and I knew that Ram V, an Indian writer, was going to be setting a part of the story in India and was also going to involve Levi's brother and father, I IMMEDIATELY thought of you and wondered if the parallels to your own personal life would be of enough interest to you to make you want to own some of these quieter moments in the story, so I'm really glad it DID turn out that way. I love it when people post art from a series that has been over for some time already, as it forces me to revisit it and then serves to remind me just how fabulous each and every page turned out. I'm so glad to see you posting art again, Kavi. Not just these Swamp Thing pages, but in general. Here's hoping the rest of 2023 starts to look upward for you and heads in the right trajectory!

Another gorgeous page in your Perkins Swamp Thing collection, Kavi! I'm in complete agreement about the power of the quiet pages in Mike and Ram's fantastic run; they hum with a depth and intense potency reminiscent of the Green itself. Look at that tree canopy in the first panel! Or the tone work on the backgrounds in panel two! What could be a better setting for a scene between the three men who formed the foundation of this family and this story than Perkins' rich and all-encompassing swamp? The Swamp was the thing in this run! :) Congrays, Kavi!!
