DescriptionI missed Harren's recent commission list through Felix so I'm very happy to add this piece. Back in 2013 several artists decided to draw and post tribute pieces to Jack Kirby on his birthday. This is James Harren's tribute to the King of comics and I gotta say I'd love to see Harren do a 4th World book or any Kirby property for that matter.Harren described this piece as "A tribute to the King on his birthday (the 28th). I was going to draw one of the hundred recognizable characters that he created but I wanted to honor those amazing henchman he always draws. Hail to the king. brush, nib, micron." Harren also said, "These guys are a mix of Granny Goodness' guards from the Fourth World series" and a bit of the Parademons. Multiversitycomics.com featured this piece and some of the other tribute pieces in an "Art of the Week" post September 4th, 2013. Thanks to Geoff for parting with this one and the great transaction. Thanks, Paul! I love the way he drew each henchmen with just a little bit of their own characteristics while also giving them their own unique weapons and Kirbyisms.

Super Kirby tribute! Harren has such a strong and recognizable style! Interesting how it's evolved over the past decade.

The weird and wild Kirby imagination continues its influence as his work has solved so many storytelling scripts for artists to follow in the medium. A great offbeat choice by Harren who gravitates towards the monster genre to give these lackeys a modern polish.

Wow, yeah, Harren would be incredible on a Fourth World book. I never thought of it before, but his wonderful, aggressive, gritty style would be perfect to do kirby work. This composition is simple and perfect. And he's clearly a huge fan, adding that awesome Kirby Machinery. Long live the king!

Real mix of Harren and Kirby! Got those designs where you can see both artists, and love that mech up top! Congrats!
