Description![]() Artists: George Hage & Brent Peeples - Layouts Skottie Young - Iron Man Michael Golden - Thor Ed McGuinness & Dexter Vines - Hulk Ron Garney - Captain America Frank Cho - Wasp Jim Cheung - Daredevil May 19t, 2014 UPDATE: I am very excited to announce the uber-talented Justin Ponsor has finished this Jam off with his vibrant color work. Justin was the perfect choice as he has done some amazing color work with several of these artists. Many thanks to Justin for making some time to finish this piece off right!
Many thanks to Jim for taking the time to make this one happen and to many thanks to Michael Golden who was sitting an isle over for filling in some spots between the Thor and DD. Also big thanks to Justin for capturing some video of Michael for putting the finishing touches on the piece: June 8, 2013 UPDATE: In 2012 I spoke with Dexter about adding his magic inks to Ed's Hulk but we ran out of time. I am happy to say Dexter remember this piece and was able to ink the Hulk at the 2013 Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC! Check out the updated scan and picture of Dex! November 18, 2012 UPDATE: I am excited to say Frank Cho was able to add Wasp in her original outfit at the NC Comicon! Many thanks to Frank. June 29th, 2012: After starting my first jam last year I had a layout done of 5 of Marvel's best in their gold and silver age likenesses. I put together the rough layout and Brent Peeples was kind enough to pencil it out on the board at NC Comic Con 2011 in Durham, NC. I knew I had to get a few of my favorite artists in the business to contribute to my jam at the 2012 Heroes Con. I arrived early Friday morning to ensure I was able to get on a few commission lists. The convention room was filled with fanboys not only because it was the 30th anniversary for Heroes Con but Stan Lee was also in attendance in addition to the amazing list of guest. Long story short, I was able to get the amazing Mark 1 Iron Man from Skottie on Friday! He really made it his own and I can't say enough good things about the guy. I was lucky enough to line up Michael Golden to do the silver-age Thor Saturday morning and he delivered! For Saturday afternoon I have to send big thanks to Michael Alexander and Ed for the amazing Hulk pencils. They fit perfectly next to the Iron Man. The final addition came late Sunday about an hour before the convention came to a close and I must say Ron Garney's WWII Cap was well worth the wait!!! Ron is one of my favorite artists and a funny guy. I had planned to have Lee Weeks to do the Daredevil in the yellow costume on Friday but my name kept slipping on the list. I hope to catch Lee next year perhaps. Ed McGuinness also put in a good word to try and get Dexter Vines to ink the Hulk but we ran out of time at Heroes Con. Dex next year I hope! Again big thanks to the artist for taking the time to make this special piece!!! Check out the pictures of the guys in action below. Social/Sharing |

Congratulations George, that "MARVEL" Jam is a beauty, and once you get LEE WEEKS to pencil and ink Daredevil, it will be a grail.

George, we must have been on the same pattern in the floor of AA for good parts of the show. I remember seeing this multiple times and I must say it is a very nice piece. I can't wait to see how it looks when done. I remember walking by Ron Garney as he was doing your Cap and he asked me if I knew what Cap's helmet looked like. I recall saying it was the of military bucket style but that I was not an expert on the character. Glad to see you guys figured it out - Cap looks GREAT! You have to get Dex to ink the Hulk to make it look just right - I hope you can track him down next year. Speaking of next year, be sure to look me up if we both make it to the show.

That's an extremely cool piece! I happened to be near Michael's table when you passed this over to him and filmed a bit of him adding in his touches to Thor. (you can see my Godzilla commission, half-inked on the table). You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQpvYRAWOZo

Let me preface by saying I hate jam pieces and I hate the Ultimate Cap costume. That being said, this may very well be the best commission on CAF. First it's layout is ridiculously cool. The pen and ink version would be enough to set this atop the heap but the coloring is out of this world. The effort behind the post alone took a ton of work. Finally the execution is perfect from all the artists. Just an outstanding piece of work.

I learned a lot talking to other CAFers and doing my first jam and glad it translated in this piece. Truly appreciate the kind words my friend!

Killer jam, and an inspired method of posting to retain all comments on the same page and still let CAF members know it's been updated. Love all the photos, video, and text based updates. Congrats and thanks for sharing it all!

Congrats and thanks for sharing it all! Thanks so much, Jonathan! Had to get clever on keeping folks apprised of updates. Hopefully the silhouette posts created some suspense and weren't too bothersome. I wanted to keep everything in one central spot to track the journey and I didn't want to lose the comments all the great folks took the time to leave along the way :)
