DescriptionAn example of one of those pieces you’re pumped to get and didn’t have to break the bank to get it. Love those. Here, my first Peralta. From BP’s King in Black one-shot tie-in book.Just a great “essence of the Panther” page. Up top, T’Challa’s lamenting Storm having been taken out by Knull, the big bad of the event. We see the Storm flashback, then BP having to put his feelings aside. It’s game time. And in that third panel, he literally puts his game face on, while delivering that reserved, dispassionate line. That’s BP, man. There’s a time for feeling and there’s a time for focus. Okoye and Shuri look like they want to give their condolences, but they got the cue. Not now. Love the tonal work rendered by both ink wash and pencil. And I’ve noted a few times before...but I can’t get enough of how BP’s mask comes over in that Kirby tech way. A fave since first shown in Coates’/Stelfreeze’s BP #1. Thanks, German and dealer Mark Hay! And stay tuned for more Peralta – got a commission in the works! Social/Sharing |

I can totally read this page in Keith David's voice with the orchestrial suite building to a crescendo before we turn the page. It is visually stunning storytelling that isolates and distances T'Challa from everything else except his inner thoughts.

Very nice mixture of ink, wash and graphite. I too am a big fan of nice looking art that can be had cheaply, these days more than ever. Too many people complain that nothing is affordable anymore, but that's only true if you have a narrow area of interest. Within the contemporary art market there is still a ton of nice looking, affordable art!

Nice page! I love getting a page that you value so much more than the asking price - they are rare but do pop up from time to time. Congrats - this is a really great page KG! Thanks for sharing!

Someone give that man a hug and perhaps some toast. I mean it can't hurt. I'm not even sad and I wouldn't turn down free toast.

Elwood: "I'll have some toasted white bread, please" :) Though I think T'Challa'd like some butter 'n jam on that toast. I know it's free but you have to be able to work that out, right? If you're gonna offer toast... Thanks, John!

Lovely page, K, with quite a bit of emotional weight to it. It perfectly captures that moment you describe, with T'Challa implaccable in the face of a situation (or emotions) that it might be better to take a quick moment to acknowledge... Really nice work, and there's something about that awesome third panel that REALLY strikes me as a Paul Pope panel. Congrats, man!

Yup. Take the moment...then move on. That's BP, man. And I didn't see Pope in panel 3...but do now :) Thanks, J!

The facial expressions here are next level good. I'm not accustomed to seeing what looks to be fear on Storm's face - you know the threat has to be off the charts from Ororo's reaction. Amazing work by Peralta.

The transformation scene looks so nice in black and white.

Beautiful sequence of panels with some great emotions! I agree with Johnny M, the black and white version makes the transformation even better.

I might make Kirby Tech Wave the name of my next fantasy football team. Dig that turn of phrase. And, yeah, it looks super duper cool. I had not seen that one yet, and it's really neat. I really like Peralta's emotionally charged style here, too, where feelings and motivations are obvious. I have to check out more of his work. Great (inexpensive) score. Congrats!

Dude, that's cool as hell. Never heard of the artist before. Like the style, and that's some great grayscale usage! Another great addition to the collection!

Love the paneling. It's like a stirring abstract painting when taken as a whole.

Stunning, naunced art, and I love these epic pages where the hero absolutely manifests their toughest selves - it's all about the willpower and focus, and T'Challa comes second to none in those qualities!

Yup, spot on, Marvelman! I like the pure art itself on this page but just as much I like way the moment is conveyed, with BP as steely as ever, and making that flip because he has to, simple as that. Not easy being a king! Thanks!

Love all the reaction shots. Great rendering and the ink wash really makes the page pop.
