DescriptionMore Panther this week, though I’d probably have to say this is more of a Storm page! By one of my favorite newer artists, German Peralta. A few weeks ago I posted a Beta Ray Bill color commission by German (https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1813189), and yep…I just had to get another published piece :) From a book called the Last Annihilation: Wakanda, which was a story at the end of the most recently ended BP run/volume. A BP in space story!I just love German’s ink wash – the featured shot in that regard is that third panel, with the ship moving outside the panel. Got that nice rendering on both the ship and background, and gotta like that BP symbol on the former :) Then in panel 4 you got the regal looking couple, almost looking like they’re marching. The closer for me was that last panel. Beautiful rendition of Ororo – love her face, and costume-wise with this look, I like that lightning bolt hair ornament. Here's some process on Instagram. Check out 3 of 5, specifically - a 30 second video of German working out layout! https://www.instagram.com/p/CS2OALvLCKZ/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY= Hope y’all like! That’s all I got on the Peralta front…but I’d bet there’ll probably be more at some point :) Social/Sharing |

Incredible rendition of Storm. Her hair looks almost like clouds here, which is perfect for the storm goddess. Great page overall, with Peralta's stunning depiction of Storm stealing the show.

Man! Ink wash is a style I'll NEVER tire of gawking at. I love Germans use here. Not an artist I'm familiar with but this has to be a key slice of this artists mastery. The shots are cinematic with shading and texture that practically makes contact with your senses from across the room. Congrats!

Agree as far as ink wash style gawking! German's become one of my faves at the art. And "cinematic" is a good word - can totally picture this scene as a storyboard for live action!
Thanks Nash, and all, for the comments - always appreciated!

Awesome page - a master class in ink wash. The layout of this page is so well done, drawing the user through the page/panels and telling the story. Congrats on this page!

From the steaming jungles of Wakanda, to the freezing environment of outer space in his own space cruiser no less, T'Challa's come a long way, figuratively & literally, in nearly 60 years! I always enjoy panel breaking elements on a page, as it gives the person or object a three dimensional look and feel and provides more depth to the image. I love Ororo too, though Peralta is coming dangerously close to giving her Phoenix "flame hair" here. Sweetness, Kahlil!

I'm always ready for wash art again (a war again)
Go to the stars again (that road again)
Peralta's name (his art attained)
I'm always Shuri to save a life again
Black Panther guides the reign
With ball and chain
Ororo's gon' save me from myself
When Black Panther's all I know
Tell me who's vibranium this well
M'Baku is on the phone
Who gon' pray for me? (Who gon' pray for me?)
Dora Milaje? (Take my pain for me?)
Annihilate me? (Magic Energy?)
'Cause of the wash you see (I'm alone, you see)
Mysterium for you (if I'm gon' die for you )
If I'm gon' skill for you (if I'm gon' kill for you)
Then I'll spill this ink for you, hey

Fight Bast, just tell me how many villains left
Just had to throw in a couple Kendrick lines :) Thanks, Mr. Wai!

Fantastic. Storm definitely steels the page. Thanks for introducing me to Peralta's work!

Fantastic layout and great artistic storytelling. I agree with Michael McIsaac about Storm's hair being all billowy like clouds (very appropriately), and yeah, that lightning hair ornament is very cool. So is the BP symbol on the starship! Beautiful page all around.

Powerful and fun page! Is that possible? You get the great reaction from Shuri in the first panel, then the majestic arrival of Panther and Storm, followed by a graceful Storm panel. All wrapped up in a beautiful ink wash. Congrats!

To boldly go where no man has gone before...Wakanda Trek! Cue the sweet 60 theme music. And BAM, we have a sweet mash-up spin-off. I don't know why, but I got a real Trekkie feel from this page. I really dig the design of that Wakandan spaceship. Clearly, Peralta did, too. :) Very cool page. Congrats!

Ha ha, yeah, can totally see why you get those Trekkie vibes! It's like T'Challa and Ororo are entering the bridge :) And Ororo brings a solution to the problem! Thanks, J - glad you like!

Man, I absolutely love it when an artist will do what German does here at the edge of panel three; deliberately adding that splash of ink or paint that extends the action past the panel borders, or where they _know_ the page cuts off because it looks cooler to them, or feels more "finished" to them (kind of like with some of Bianchi's color spots). Great wash and tone work here, on a page spotlighting terrific, favorite characters. A winner, K, without question. Great pick up! Congrats!
