DescriptionMy collecting bucket list has three items left on it, and one of them is a published Paolo Rivera Spidey. Unfortunately, they never come available - those who have them have the good sense to hold on to them. The Mythos HC cover had so many of the elements I love about Paolo's Spidey - the delicacy of how he navigates the web, the expressive lenses with the thin upper edge of the eyelet, a pose that walks the line of what's possible.I think he's one of the best artists ever to tackle the character, mentioned comfortably in that top tier of Spidey artists. He also renders the Silver Age renditions of characters perfectly (see his Folio Society print in their Silver Age collection), and the chance to get the entire FF (the Human Torch is jaw-dropping), the original 5 X-men, the Hulk, Cap, and even Ghost Rider down at the bottom of the image... this was "the one". Very grateful that it stayed within an affordable range, and that I could check off one of my dream pieces. Social/Sharing |

I'd never utter such a thing...😂 but I agree- Paolo is one of those artists, like Cheung and Art Adams, that does a perfect version of every character. This is a nice showcase of his mastery of all these characters.

Masterclass! Had no clue a hardcover was released for these beauties. But man, what spectacles they all were and still are! Congrats!

I think the trade dress for the HC collection takes away from the piece a bit. Much better and more memorable without, for my tastes. Couldn't pass this one up, and agree completely with your thought- beautiful spectacles, and a great announcement of Rivera's talent to the world. Thanks for the comment!

Dream piece indeed. The manner in which it is painted brings back the spirit of the Silver Age Marvel as it charged forward into the 70's.

Thanks, Marcus. Rivera captures that feeling so well- no wonder they hired him for the Folio Society Silver Age print and inner box art!

It's definitely on my list of "if I could only have one piece" covers! Very grateful to be its custodian. Thanks for the kind words!

Thanks, Jason! The stars had to align for me to get it, but the other great Mythos pages are all locked away, so this was my best shot. Very happy with it as my one big Rivera example. Appreciate the love!

Thanks, Pat- I know we're both fans of his style as it's evolved through the years (I particularly like the FF cover where they're all working together on the machine), but glad to have an example from this era. Thanks for the comment!

Wow! Huge congrats, Casey! I'm also a hug fan of Paolo's...he really can do everything. And when it comes to painted colors?! Come on! Just a perfect blend of the traditional cartoony comic book look with realistic rendering. Case in point. And man. You got a GREAT looking full figure Spidey (that pose!) and so much more. Love the glowing Cyke optic beam. Overall a strong throwback vibe while still feeling fresh. Way to check one of the three remaining bucket list items off. Congrats, again!

Paolo's style works really well for Silver Age characters, and this does not disappoint given the cast of characters. Congrats on crossing off a bucket list item!

Wow! What cool cover! Gorgeous Mythos cover by the great Paolo Rivera. Rivera is a great artist and here he's got all these great heroes to draw--Spider-man, Hulk, Cyclops, the Thing, Captain America...too many to list. And clearly, Paolo is just the artist for the job. Look at how cool he draws each character. Realistic enough to be believable but classic enough to be memorable. Love Paolo's Spidey and his Hulk, especially, but they're all good. How cool to have all of them on one cover! Great find, congrats!
