DescriptionI am a big fan of the Mignolaverse, so I am thrilled to finally add some artwork from Duncan Fegredo to the collection. Both of these pages came with the pencils, and it is really cool to see the notes made for each panel. Can't get enough of that part of the process. This page features our protagonist in a couple panels, and I love how the focus is properly drawn to the glow of the bottle. The panels at the bottom perfectly capture that moment in Hellboy stories where you realize things aren't quite as they seem. Great half page splash, and I think it is cool to see the pencil notes “Not Angry” by Hellboy in the first panel. He enters this scene not looking for a fight, but as the reader you know he is eventually going to get one. These pages are a wonderful reminder that there is no such thing as too much Hellboy art. Big thanks to Mark at Splash Page for the inks and the pencils! Social/Sharing |

Wow, this looks like a cross between Mignola and Bermejo, how interesting!

Great spooky page that has us and the Hellboy baffled. The page uses the curiosity to play against the fear! Fegredo's vision takes the Mignolaverse to break new burial ground!

Gorgeous Fegredo page. Do I have to turn in my CAF card if I say that I prefer Fegredo to Mignola as an artist? Yes? Ah well.

Haha! I think you might...it is definitely a statement capable of stirring the pot! Don't you mean you like them both and respect the differences in each artist's style without technically having to select one over the other or something like that? :)

It's a testament to Mignola's vision and creativity that so many other artists do their best work on his scripts and/or in his universe of characters and environments, IMHO. I slightly prefer Mignola's art aesthetically over all who have drawn Hellboy, but I think some of the best stories Mignola has told were written for and drawn by other artists. This is a fantastic page, BTW!

Completely agree with you, Mignola definitely knows how to select the right artists for his stories. I have come to really love the work of those artists that have worked on Hellboy and BPRD. That ranges from Guy Davis to James Harren, Laurence Campbell, Ben Stenbeck, Christopher Mitten, Stephen Green. That list just goes on and on. Then you take his own art style and factor that in, and you have quite a Mignolaverse.

Congrats, Tyler! Beautiful pages. Fegredo really did some amazing work on Hellboy. This was my favorite story.
