I was a Senior in High School in 1981 and I saw this cover and just loved the Space Opera image. It is such a complex piece that spoke to me on many levels. So glad to have this hanging on my wall. The darn frame was $1,200 the piece is so big- but well worth it! Heritage description~ Howard Chaykin Epic Illustrated #8 Cover Painting Original Art (Marvel, 1981). This amazing (and huge) painted cover is a true sight to behold! Rich colors and stark black create a deep and compelling image. You can easily write your own story given all the details included: a blind musician begging coins, high society types mixing with a powerful military figure, revolution -- it makes us think of the novel Nova by Samuel R. Delaney. It includes a copy of the magazine. Mixed media on illustration board with image area measuring a whopping 29" x 38.5". In Excellent condition.

Best piece the Chayke ever did! This piece made a big impression on me too when I saw the Epic #8.
