DescriptionNowlan did many pieces of amazing art over the years, but two blew me away. "Conjuring Clea" is one of them. Sure the Dr. Martin dies have seriously faded, but I still think it is stunning. This was for a 2,500 print run and I am thrilled to have the original. Here is HA's take:Kevin Nowlan - "Conjuring Clea" Dr. Strange Illustration Original Art (c.1980s). Deep in the mysterious Sanctum Sanctorum, surrounded by spells, sigils, and demons, we find the Master of the Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange, emotionally chained by feelings of yearning, as he conjures an apparition of his love, Clea. The niece of Strange's mortal enemy, the Dreaded Dormammu, and a staple character in the Doctor Strange mythos, Clea made her first appearance in November 1964, where she was introduced as the Sorcerer Supreme's disciple and, later, his wife. Sadly, love was not enough, as Doctor Strange had to honor his obligation to protect Earth, while Clea had to go to the Dark Dimension to continue her battle against her uncle. Clea made her shocking and unexpected live action cinematic debut in the penultimate end credit scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she was played by the beautiful Charlize Theron. Mixed media of ink, watercolor, acrylic, and pastel over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 2.25" x 27.5", matted to 26" x 33.5". Signed by Nowlan. In Excellent condition. I knew you were going for it ;)
I agree that those two Dr Strange pieces are two of Nowlan's best.
Gotta collect 'em all which you just did :)
(Mention on the HA description which did a great job a describing the art/researching it considering the fading. Excellent condition indeed ;)

Such a beautiful piece--and while no one wants fading, if I hadn't seen the published image I would assume that the color treatment in this piece as it exists now was intended to be atmospheric and ephemeral. In other words, it works now as a beautiful piece of art even it looks different that it does when originally created. Beautiful set of Nowlan bookends in your collection--I'm jealous!
