POWER COMICS
Since Covid, like many, part of my life has moved online. Message boards, Reddit, etc. And, CAF. And, obviously, Youtube, Cartoonist Kayfabe. But if I had to pick a single virtual outlet, my favorite is the Power Comics channel. I�ve read all the stories about Sal Buscema being chastised by his peers for turning up too many dozens pages a month like he didn�t care about the quality of his output, etc. All of this is probably true. And, to add insult to injury, I remember looking at this book when it originally came out and was old enough to decide that Akin & Garvey, no personal offense meant, were second tier Rudy Nebres, who I never cared for to begin with. All of that being said, I think this page looks CRAZY INSANE. Has a kind of energy you can only find among amateur, self-taught artists, and jobbers working for major companies trying to meet impossible inhumane deadlines. I know some of his 70s Defenders covers are now trading for 6 figures, but wouldn�t trade this for the world. One of my favorite pieces in my collection . Power Comics should make a Sal Buscema video.

Thank you. "Gonzo" should be an official new aesthetic criteria among OA collectors. Hopefully, will overrun "detailed", which I am allergic to.

This is an entertaining last page cliffhanger for the next issue. Sal is releasing the Hellhounds like Mr. Burns.
