Description

“…and while I know that vengeance truly isn’t a healthy thing…it’s something that I understand.”

“What a human soul needs isn’t always healthy.”

Yet another one of Ed’s quotes that seems to ring true no matter what our respective life experiences are.

An added bonus is our protagonist’s signature vehicle (a vintage 1977 Dodge B200 Van [Many thanks to Mr. Marcus Wai for the assist on this one.]) in Panel 3. Like all of our modern day heroes/anti-heroes, they have the whole package: Vehicle, Base of Operations (El Ricardo), and a Sidekick (Anna).

In a number of his newsletters, Ed Brubaker has made references to this particular panel. Those selections can be found in the “addition images” of this entry.

Signed by Sean Phillips.

Wonderful choice!  Love every page of Reckless, but it's great to have one the artist favors and that van is so iconic.  Love the symmetry of the page and Brubaker and Phillips achieve just the right mood for the story, as always

Thank you Marcus. I have credited you accordingly.

How did you know the exact model and make?

It's probably the most common of their long body vans in the late 70's.  The gas guzzlers during the oil crisis didn't have that long of a life.  The more common ones where the cheaper ones with less windows.  Known as kidnapper style vans or vans they sold under the table stuff out of.  I think Bill Cox lived in one of these for a while.

He confirmed as much.  I'm just wondering if he had the windowless model and what he had painted on the side of it.

In that case, I'm guessing he had OA hanging on the interior of the windowless walls.  If it were mine, there'd have been a Frazetta homage airbrushed on the outside as well. Windows are a scourge!
