DescriptionFirst order of business at SDCC 2023 was to see if DWJ was taking a 6x9 sketch list. I was in luck. Having been a big Top Gun fan since childhood, and knowing DWJ is also a fan of the franchise, choosing that as a sketch subject was a no brainer. I am incredibly happy with how it turned out. DWJ always manages to deliver something unexpected and out of the box with his sketches, which really ends up more like commissions rather than sketches.Social/Sharing |

Beautiful! DWJ makes the most of the size to show us Mav and his co-pilot on an aircraft carrier (indicated by the wires). Heck, with his Transformers work, it could be Starscream in disguise here.

It's amazing what DWJ can achieve in such a small size. Looking at the detail, this could have been twice as large. The composition is great and really distills the essence of the film into one image. Congrats!

Congrats on landing this DWJ sketch! The level of care and attention he puts into these smaller pieces is phenomenal (one of these days, I'll make the list for a 6"x9" or larger commission).
