DescriptionIn Honor of Bills art talk and art sale with Matt Wagner today, I bring out this beauty. David Anthony Kraft's Comics Interview #51.This cover just screams the 80's. We have an early appearance of Christine Spar, the second iteration of Grendel and Max Headroom by the Pander Bros. The cover for Comics Interview announced the coming release of a 3-D Max Headroom comic (never published) and features both Grendel and the comic book character depiction of Max Headroom’s alter ego, Edison Carter. Everyone knows Matt Wagner's Grendel, but how many people remember Max Headroom?! Hit sensation of the late 80's. Catch the wave! David Anthony Kraft's Comics Interview #51 by the Pander Bros on 10x10 board. 1987 Social/Sharing |

I was a huge fan of the Max Headroom television show. It was way ahead of its time, and its premature cancellation was a big disappointment. I wasn't aware that a comic book was planned - I can't find evidence (after a brief search) that it was published. Could have been very interesting. At any rate, this is a fabulous cover!

Yea, it was never published. It would have been a 3-D comic too.

Max was definitely cutting edge with the blue screen backgrounds and the backstory given to make him the first CGI character. Believable because of the future forward craze in the 80's and with the special effects getting better all the time. The fashions of the time were also represented here with big shoulders and the ninja look.
