Nope, it's not a Frazetta strip. Fritz would've long since left the building as Al Capp's assistant when this was published, in '66.

I'd been questing for an example from this storyline, after spotting a sexy Abner daily featuring the voluptuous Japanese gal shown here that Roger Clark had. A chain of unlikely happenings led me to the realization that one was to be had among Heritage's latest auction offerings. (Thanks, Bruce! Thanks, Tony!)

I like the cuteness and pulchritude of the character, and the beauty of the inks. (I'd described these as appealingly sloppy with my first draft of this post, but I think that's wrong. Slick with finesse might be more accurate.) The first panel is lovely in its staging. Quite a pretty daily!

As a sidebar, I won this after participating in my first-ever Heritage auction. Normally, I avoid auctions, because I don't find it much fun getting my hopes up for a piece of art only to have them dashed by losing to reality.

Well, whaddaya know, Gloriosky and Scudda-hoo, Scudda-hay! I actually won this one. :-D

Congratulations on your first ever HA auction and win. I also had my first toward the end of last year. It would seem that we feel the same way about auctions. Heh-heh! But hopefully your first experience was better than mine. You got a great piece, in any event. Strangely enough, the predominatly silhouette first panel is probably the most interesting to me. But the inks throughout are gorgeous. Congrats again.
