Description

Purchased from Joseph Melchior in 2022. I have not found a corresponding published piece but I know Brian Bolland has drawn at least one Spectre published cover.

I am a long time fan of both the Spectre and Brian Bolland. When I saw this piece, I jumped at the chance to own it. This piece reminds me of the Bissette Totleben splash in Swamp Thing Annual 2 (as well as the Spectre’s fierce but losing battle against the Darkness in Swamp Thing 50).

Bolland's work can only get harder to find. The pencils are super fine and the degree with which this is finished in pencil looks like the final step to be turned into one of his meticulous covers.

The pencils here seem to be fully rendered, which is different than his usual preliminaries. An excellent addition to a collection!
