Originally I planned to pick this up in person at SDCC but unfortunately came down with a pretty nasty bug just days before the convention so my SDCC dreams of meeting Manix and thanking him and Jiggy in person were dashed. But Manix was kind enough to send to me directly and I am very grateful for that as well as the incredible effort and time he put into this homage of my favorite comic cover ever.

The pictures do not do it justice, this thing pops! Not only did he include all of the copy and all of the background webbing but he did the background color in GOLD as well! A perfect re-creation with all the fun and wild whimsy one could ask for, infused with the marvelous Manix-method.

Spidey vs Venom, what more could you ask for? This piece will definitely not be the FINAL COMMISSION!

I was wondering who this was for, and was well-jealous of all that gorgeous, glittering gold. I'm sure the scan doesn't even begin to do this justice. Congrats and looking forward to what's next!

Thanks ML! This was probably the most exciting and fun commission I've gotten in a while. I think it says a lot about an artist when even people who already have commissions by them are jealous of others commissions, you know? Like your Parable piece, wow man, I seriously love that thing! Manix deserves all the praise and admiration he receives.

The gold gimmick cover is such a great touch that no other homage to this classic has ever approached! Credit to Manix to even be this audacious!

All credit due to Mr. Abrera for pulling this off and as you said Marcus, subjectively no other 375 homage that comes to mind has been as creative and faithful as Manix's here. His playful style combined with attention to even the smallest details delivers a levity that reminds me of why commissions can be such an enjoyable part of collecting.

Phenomenal Manix homage to ASM #375! I love the way Manix captures the essense of covers but gives them a little twist all his own. But I have to say, there are so many Manix homage covers being commissioned that I think we should suggest to Bill Cox that he introduce a new category for CAF's Best of 2024 Competition: "Best Manix Homage." I think this one would do very, very well.
