With how dead-serious Batman is and we all tend to make him out to be, I appreciate the levity this piece brings to an otherwise dark and brudish table.
Thanks Bill, I think it's fair to say that due to the time it was completed and that Ian and Tradd share a studio space, it's very possible Ian here was influenced, if not outright depicting SSB.
Extra-terrestrial! Not to downplay Earl Norems fine work but how Stan thought this was in any way not as worthy of printing is a true mystery, what a gorgeous, museum-worthy piece of comic history done by the King himself! Congratulations Bill!
Just me or did anyone elses grandpa used to do this with an orange? Dynamic and brilliant execution, unsettling as it is, I can't stop looking at it and that makes me love it!
Hell of a first Bertram piece Bill! Congratulations!
I can't claim to know much about Hawkman but when I saw this cover my jaw dropped! The raw brutal strength and gladiator ferocity depicted by Zaffino in every line and stark shadow is enough to capture the attention of even a passive fan. This screams don't mess with Hawkman! Congratulations!
Congratulations George! Major score!
As you noted, Manix leaned away from the villainous depiction of Frankensteins monster and instead chose to focus more on the vulnerability of the poor creature shown amongst the cold mechanics representing what could be considered the "true monster" of the story, man's incurable ambition to play god. A fascinating look into one of the greatest works of literature by one of the most unique talents of a generation. Congrats!
Nowlan certainly knows how to depict his royal crime-ness, Handsome devil.
This poster terrified me as a kid. We used to go to a mom & pop video rental in an old bungalow house and this poster was one that I vividly remember. Great piece!

Ohh the mammari...I mean uh...memories! Nice grab Carl!
Cowabunga!!! This is rad!
The Devourer of Worlds rendered by whom I'd nominate as the Destroyer of Convention. Moore's uncanny ability to translate other planes of reality is something truly special and remarkable.
This is incredible to see, thank you for sharing! The impact of this film cant be overstated. I'm an 80's baby, live in the PNW, Oregon specifically and to us, this movie is our Citizen Kane. Goonies Never Say Die!
Happy for you bud!! Congrats!!
I love how the reveal of the beast leads up to the third splash, the first two panels giving us a sense of impending doom, and then Diana dwarfed by her foe that she is no doubt about to handle.
Radical homage that hits many a nostalgic spot! Congratulations!
Wall worthy if ever a Jones piece was, congratulations!
Transformers are for the children (in all of us). What a fun thing to add to your collection Marcus, congratulations!
Talk about one JL cover to rule them all! The team, the golden age imagery, what's not to love?? Congratulations!
It could be said that at least for a portion of collectors, Manix defibrillated collecting commissions, Master of Arts!
Epic clash of brawn. The bash brothers as both were meant to be depicted!! Congrats!
"It's not a tumor!" Intense! Rudy beautifully illustrates the enormous inner turmoil the Surfer was cursed with the day he sacrificed himself to save his own planet.
I bought this comic specifically for the cover. The textures, details and colors are eye popping. Stevens work is next level. Congratulations! I'd be interested if you ever decide to part with it;)
I got to see this in person at OAX, stunning! Meeting Nir was a highlight. He puts a lot of thought and research into his work.
Don't let the white suit or wine glass fool you, he's not a guy you want to mess with, this piece is giving off that vibe 💯!
A (Hunter) Rose by any other name would still smell just as sweet. As one who's also experienced a commission misinterpretation, I do empathize. Though I do sincerely believe this is the single greatest depiction of Beowulfs Grendel I've ever seen!
Manix's approach is definitely singular and unique yet it's giving elements of Bakshi meets Steranko, meets the X-Men/Factor and I'm loving it!
Levies creativity clearly flows freely throughout this piece. His pen takes like a fish to water, giving depth and fluid energy showcasing his unique approach.
Killer page, Bertram's baby bird is flying higher than ever before. Congratulations!
BAM! POW! Right in the kisser! What a treasure this is, congratulations! What an epic story to have to accompany this rare gem.
Seriously considered going for this when it dropped. Even a layman could look at this and recognize the talent of the hands that made it. A gorgeous piece of atmosphere to set the stage as only Tradd can. Truly Traddical. Congrats!
This just pops off the page. The proportions and perspective Tradd uses bends reality in the best ways, such a fresh take on Night Thrasher, might just be my favorite to date!
The signal, the skyline, the Bat, the cape, the gargoyles, this has it all! Congratulations!
Executed expertly. The shogun should protect his neck. Excellent choice for Catalans style.
And I did NOT know that about Hama's connection to the character, so cool!!
Always loved Tunnel Rat, felt he was under utilized. But his figures were heck a cool, Yo Joe!!!
