DescriptionThis purchase represents a major first for me. I mainly collect published covers. I was a collector of splash pages earlier in my art collecting days. But I sold them off once I felt like I was making enough money to graduate to covers. But the splashes I purchased then had no real connection to my comic collecting days as a teen. They were just the best I could afford at the time. This one, on the other hand, gives me all the nostalgia feels. I'd be lying if I said I was the biggest fan of Liefeld's art. But no one can argue his industry significance during the 90's and what was for me, my prime comic collecting period. Heroes Reborn was such an exciting event for myself. There were only a few crossover events that I took the time to buy every issue from and HR was definitely one of those. I'm not sure if I bought this issue off the newsstand or through the mail catalogue but it was one I had and still have today. I asked Rob on one of his live IG chats, if they redid Heroes Reborn today, what two artists would get people excited. He couldn't think of anyone and neither can I. It was so of it's time and connected so closely to the Image exodus. I'm finally catching onto what other collectors say... that with all the room left open for titles and text, you do get more art, in many cases, by getting an interior page instead of a cover. I'll probably never be able to afford 90's covers from the creators I remember the best like Liefeld, Perez, Lee, Bagley and the Kuberts. But if I can snatch up splashes from those guys at prices like I paid for this one... please, take my money. It's hard to see but Rob signed the art in what looks like pencil in the bottom left corner area. Social/Sharing |

Yes! This is one of the best opening reveals people first looked at and is one of the iconic images from this run that encapsulates what Liefeld had in store for the series!
