Description

Illustration by Clark Ashton Smith. Signed "C.A.S." in lower right. Three separate portrait illustrations, the third being the god Tsathoggua, which Smith created for the Cthulhu mythos.

Published in In the Realms of Mystery and Wonder, Centipede Press, 2017.

Clark Ashton Smith art, most likely done between 1915 and 1922. From the collection of Samuel Loveman, who showed Smith's art and poetry to H.P. Lovecraft in 1922. Soon after, Lovecraft wrote Smith what can only be described as a fan letter, kicking off a 15 year correspondence between the two that ended only with Lovecraft's death.
