I met The Dude for the second time in Dallas in 1990, and brought home this incredible beauty. Continuing on with getting Nexus characters from him, I asked him for a drawing of Judah the Hammer, and got a bit of a talking to - Steve apparently hates the Judah name for the character, according to The Dude "his name is Fred! Always been Fred, will always be Fred!" Sounds like it bothered him a bit, eh? The annoyance at the name thing didn't stop him from producing what I feel was the most awesome drawing of that convention! When I show my Profolios to other professional comic artists, they all say "ooh" and "ahh" to my Adam Hughes stuff or to my Mignola or just about any other of the Big Name guys I have art from, but this is the one that makes them stop flipping through pages and say "WOW!" and they proceed to show it to everybody they can. Can't say I blame 'em, I think it's a stunning piece, and it's one of my pride and joys. No scan can ever do this one justice! Blue pencil on 11x17 Bristol.
