DescriptionI met Paul for the second time in Dallas in 1990 - this is the same con where I met Adam Hughes for the first time and some new guy named Jim Lee. I remember balking at Lee's requested $50 for a sketch, thinking there's no way I'd ever pay that much money for art. Oh, the foolishness of youth... Anyway, I wanted another Avenger from Paul, so I asked for Iron Man in his BWS designed suit, still my favorite of all his armors to this day. I was figuring it would be pretty good, but I wasn't expecting it to be utterly amazing! This is one of my absolute favorite sketches, and I've even done a practice inking of it on vellum; if I'm feeling brave, I may post it one day. Whatever time I didn't spend at Hughes' table I spent at Paul's, talking with him and his wife. Both great, wonderful people. Pencil on 11x14 Bristol.Social/Sharing |
