Description

I've had a 'great Cockrum' page on my UXM wish-list for several years now -either from his first run or second run, but couldn't find anything. I think it's because I really wanted a fight scene with Nightcrawler (ideally with a teleportation) and Wolverine (claws out) with Colossus and rest of team as a 'nice to have'.

For those of you with more X-perience than I have, you know these pages have become both exceedingly rare and increasingly $$$.

Thanks to CAF Live, this page surfaced and I jumped on the opp to pull it into the McSpidey Vault.

In this 7 panel panel-page, we jump right into the action (and story telling!). The X-Men are in Antartica exploring the ruins of Magneto's base when they are attacked by Garokk who they thought was dead, but turns out he was rescued by Magneto.

Panel 1 - Garokk fires an eye disintegrator beam at Nightcrawler

Panel 2 - Nightcrawler dodges and gets G talking, but also thinks - yikes those are intense eye beams.

Panel 3 - BAMF. He teleports away.

Panel 4 - He teleports onto Garokk's back where G can't see N

Panel 5 - Garokk grabs Nightcrawler and flings him away in shock, but we see behind Garokk, another X-peep sneaking up.

Panel 6 - Wolvie slices into Garokk's back with both claws: "Bub, if eternal peace is what you crave-- I'll be more'n happy to oblige you!"

Panel 7 - Uh-oh, Wolverins's claws cause zero damage and he talks a bull on punch from Garokk.

The UXM run from (GSXM1/94-200) is key nostalgia for my early love of comics second only to the ASM run in the similar time-frame. What an amazing time to be a comic fan - which do I read first!?

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the page and this walk down memory lane with me!

There is nothing as satisfying as a Cockrum Nightcrawer page. Too bad that guy in the bottom two panels ruins it.

Ummm...stick to spidey my friend...leave the xart for us...lol.

Beautiful page. BAMF page indeed. Action packed panels with Kurt and Logan,  can't go wrong with that.

If you are gonna hold out, you definitely have to wait for just the right bamf or snikt page to come along. This one is most satisfying. Congrats!

Great BAMF page! The way panels 3 and 4 lead to panel 5 with Nightcrawler whipping through the and then Wolverine appearing from behind in panel 6 guides the reader through the page perfectly.

This is around the time I started reading comic books and trying to find as much X-Men material to read as possible. I was crazed, as a kid, with the idea that there were older adventures I didn't know about. Pure nostalgia for me. Well done!

I agree, it feels like, largely, this doesn't exist where you find this thing (e.g. x-men) and are like, WOW, I love that and then you can drill in both forwards and backwards.

Maybe it's a factor of age, but still my kids don't really have that experience.
