DescriptionBig thanks to my buddy Carlos for hitting up DWJ at Fan Expo Chicago and getting on his list to snag a spot for me. I tried to get on Felix' list for a DWJ sketch at Heroes, Fan Expo Chicago, and SDCC, but I went 0/3 with my claims. Carlos was able to get on DWJ's list on Thursday afternoon and this commission was completed by Friday morning. My request was "Lone Wolf and Cub in a bloody battle scene" and DWJ did not disappoint. Thanks again Carlos! Social/Sharing |

Fantastic! The circular composition with the chain and flying parts really adds a sense of chaos to the battle scene.

It's interesting how we all see different things in art. Where you see a chain, I see a trail of blood showing where Ogami Ittō's sword has been. I also feel that it adds precision and purpose to the scene of chaos and destruction. Either way, it's a thing of beauty and it frames the scene poetically.

I think you are right. I stand corrected, it's either blood and/or bowels ;)

Ha! Perhaps it is a trail of entrails!
On a separate note, I love the fact that DWJ's convention banner behind him also has blood flying and a character with a severed limb!

Lone Wolf and Cub and DWJ is the combination I didn't know I needed to see, until I saw it. Absolutely great art here Daryl, congrats on this!

His style is a nice fit for the characters, and I love the way he captures the frenzied motion and resultant carnage.

A gutsy composition that encircles your focus! Very cool to see these great pieces emerge from the small operating tables DWJ has been working on.

Chain or blood?! That is 100% a disemboweling going on. A disctinct lack of intestinal fortitude.

Suh-weet! Love that face front shot paired with that spirialing energy and motion - as only DWJ can bring! Cub's expression is a nice touch :) Congrats, man! And shout out to Carlos!

Fantastic. He really synthesized manga and western comics so well. When I got a comission from DWJ a few years ago LW&C was high on my list but did millers ronin instead, as it was another manga western influence. Wanted to see how he tackled that and DWJ killed that one too. Congrats on such a great piece
