DescriptionButch told me that this illustration was part of a super-short run portfolio of Robin Hood illustrations he executed in the 1980s. "Haven't thought about in many years, nor possess a copy of my own. There can't be but a handful of them out there in the wild." Knowing that context, this scene must therefore be the famed match in which Robin Hood and Little John earned each other's respect as warriors. Little John is knocking Robin off his feet. A few straight-line elements rendered in felt tep pin have faded to light brown.Social/Sharing |

Great piece meant for a bigger market and looks like late 80's with Guice's more realistic style than his early decade cartooning.

Nice piece. The portfolio was probably advertised in one of the magazines.
