DescriptionReally nice flowing story page from Neil Gaiman's American Gods, published by Dark Horse in 2017.Story by Gaiman, deftly scripted and laid out by P. Craig Russell, sublime pencils and inks by Scott Hampton. I love this page - to me, storytelling perfection. Not a word or gesture wasted, subtly clueing us up about the main character and building a strong sense of ominous tension. And that last panel! Stylish and clever panel arrangement marries with a solid gothic atmosphere, which Hampton's half-tone ink washes and dry brush technique enhances no end. Saw this, had to have it. Simple as. Hampton changed Shadow's hair style in the final published artwork, but this is the original art, exactly the same in every other respect. Great story, and for my money it reads clearer and better in the comics medium than in the TV version. Social/Sharing |

Thanks Bill! An unexpected and rather whimsical buy, but I love having a piece by these 3 exceptional storytellers. Sometimes the atmospheric ones, showing the uneasy calm before the storm, are some of the best.
