DescriptionClassic first issue but, just in case it needs a boost, let's add Spidey. This one has a muted color fade where the acetate overlay originally rested, but again it's the only one in existence.Always hunting for classic color guides if you're looking to part with any. Social/Sharing |

I guess the overlay had all the color codes as this is all solid color. Memorable first issue that always seems to perenially be featured in the price guides.

Two separate and fascinating conversations about the production process (one with Andy Yanchus and one with John Romita) have altered my understanding of how covers were often handled between the publisher and the printing company. It was both regimentally structured AND loosely "whatever works" and they managed to succeed with both simultaneously. Hitting deadlines every single month, on multiple books, with each one requiring a 4-color printing plate for EACH page and cover.....crazy!

A classic one - this was one of the key books of the 70s for sure!
