DescriptionMy first piece of original art. I commissioned this from Neal Adams when I met him at Boston Comic Con 2014. I asked him for his take on the scene in Batman: Mask of the Phantasm where Bruce dons the cowl for the very first time. To me, it's one of the most powerful moments of Batman storytelling and there is no better Batman artist than Neal.Social/Sharing |

He captured so much with so few lines. Neal was a true master.

Cool idea. This is pretty involved for something that he drew at a show.

Ah I should have clarified, Will. I commissioned it at the show, he drew it after. I had it in my hands two weeks later.

That is a highly sophisticated choice for a commission , the result is equally impressive !

Wow thank you Carlo! It was my first piece and first commission. Neal's been a pretty tough act to follow!

This piece is brilliant! Adams is so underrated for what he could do with a silhouette. Everyone (including Neal maybe) thought of him for his rendering and crosshatching but he got as much out of shadows, simple calligraphic line and spot blacks as anyone this side of Toth!

Adams knew how to wring every ounce of drama out of the scenes he created.

Most powerful rendition of a most powerful moment in Batman's life!
