It looks like it was inspired by the Colan era with those deep dramatic inks and shadows! Especially evident in the emotionally affecting inset panel. Very fun page as we see DD enter the scene running and exit the page running the other direction.

Great observations! Yeah, I love the bold blacks in this piece.
