Original Cover Art - Karl Stephan (1923 - 1980).

Cover of episode #549 of the early German science fiction pulp series TERRA. Published under the title 'Der unheimliche Feind' (The Eerie Enemy) on February 16, 1968.

Gouache on illustration board.

'TERRA UTOPISCHE ROMANE' was a German Science Fiction pulp series published from 1957 to 1968 in 555 episodes by the publishing house Moewig in Munich, and launched in competition to the 'UTOPIA' series. TERRA became one of the most popular SF series in Germany in 1950-70 next to UTOPIA and PERRY RHODAN.

Very attractive use of the purple, orange and red on this cover showing an explosive disaster right at the time where the space race was in full swing and these thoughts of doubts were creeping in the back of people's minds.
