Description

Here is a terrific One Minute Later with a bit of a story behind it. I was at Joe Rubinstein's home some years back and he was doing inks on a terrific commission by John Michael Jackson featuring the Invaders and Masterman. You can find it here: http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=571729 . IT was a perfect One Minute Later but alas it was not mine.

I loved the piece and asked Frank to do a different sort of take on that commission by adding characters and changing others. There was a miscommunication as I was overseas and Frank ended up recreating John's exact piece. I never would have done something like that and I just put in away, never to be seen. Joe Rubinstein knew what had happened and he was kind enough to make many of the fixes in the inks -- adding Toro, replacing Union Jack with Bucky, adding Cap's shield. I was also going to switch Namor and Cap but asked Joe not to do that as I wanted to preserve Frank's pencils as much as possible). I also reached out to John and explained what had happened and he was totally understanding and happy for me to post the piece. So, here is a One Minute Later that is also a twist on John's original commission -- I want to thank John for being so understanding and thank Joe for helping shape the piece a bit closer to what was intended.

I have always maintained that a great inker can take an artist that I am apathetic about make them look great.

This is an outstanding example of this concept...great collaboration!!!
