Artwork Details

DescriptionEisner Award winning writer and artist, Tillie Walden, is well-known for her graphic novels dealing with life and relationships. This is, I believe, one of her rare forays into the comic art world. She wrote and drew this story for the anthology, Wonder Woman Black and Gold (in celebration of Wonder Woman's 80th Anniversary). The story is entitled "Homecoming" and, in spite of the absence of text, it is self-explanatory. It is very well drawn and the detail is amazingly evocative (in part, because it was drawn in a slightly different (smaller) format which facilitated more intricate detail). Again, although I love and grew up with Silver Age artwork, I have found that stretching my horizons allows me to enjoy this hobby even more. This is page 1 of the story. Social/Sharing |

congrats on adding the story! Right away the artwork draws you in and as you mentioned is fairly self explanatory as to what's going on and easy to follow.

Many thanks, Kavi. The artwork is really very nice and it is difficult to believe that the artist did very little (if any) superhero artwork. But, then again, I think that the character resonated with her.

Great to see you've found talents represented by Atheneaum Comic Art! Not as much nostalgia and aimed more at storytelling from creators with fresh eyes and independent spirit.

Many thanks, Marcus. Yes, it is a different approach, but no less refreshing and interesting.

What a nice coincidence. Tillie Walden came up in conversation on this past Sunday's Hang Out episode! A very nice looking story indeed, CAB. As someone who has long espoused how much more enjoyable the hobby can become when collectors make the decision to stretch their horizons, you are always the first person I think of when the topic comes up. You are in my mind, the quintessential example of it. Kudos!

Many thanks, Rubén, as always, for your very kind words. This is a really nice story with great artwork from an artist who probably also stretched her horizons in writing and drawing this story.

Many thanks, Nick. These are really fantastic pages from an artist that doesn't normally do superhero comics.

Love complete stories - especially ones that need no explanation. Still, I was looking for WW to meet up with the Two Gun Kid...
Nice pick up!!
