DescriptionDarwyn Cooke's PARKER adaptations are my favorite of his works. And SLAYGROUND may be my favorite among the adaptations (but they're all great!). So very pleased to add this two-page sequence of Parker setting the stage for what will become DIE HARD-in-an-amusement-park. It should be noted that this story predates the movie by nearly two decades. Wish there had been more, but grateful for what we got. Thanks, Darwyn.Social/Sharing |

Parker is my favorite by Cooke as well, and this is a great example. That middle panel on the second page is amazing!

Cooke's animation art direction and tough guy hard boiled crime noir sensibilities is able to tell this story succinctly and effectively even with minimal or no dialogue. You can see the camera moves and cuts weaving us through the story. He places those blue hues to bring out even more of the drama as they strategically act to bring mood and atmosphere in the scene much like how duo tone was used once upon a time.

Oh man, GREAT pages Felix! I love this series too! These really have everything you could want from a Parker 2-pager. I love the criminal shenanigans on it. Congrats man! and rest in peace Darwyn.

"Closed for The Season" I can't imagine a better closing panel, the punctuation at the end of a sequence. Masterful camera work.

I just read the wonderful story in the german edition "Richard Starks Parker Martini Edition - Last Call"... I saw the pages at Albert Moy and now in your collection - really great pages, congratulations on this purchase.

Stunning two-page spread by Darwyn Cooke. You can clearly see his cinematic sensibilites here. The long shot, followed by the closeup, then the change of camera angle. It's like the storyboards Hitchcock used to have drawn for his films. Like Hitchock, Cooke had whole films in his head that he put down on paper for us. Fabulous find, Felix!
