The missing type at the bottom, at the end is, ...but no one will believe it’s Buddy Bolden (because he is playing a Harp and not a Cornet).

From 1940 to 1951, Deitch contributed covers and interior art to the jazz magazine “The Record Changer”. In 1955, Deitch took an apprenticeship at the animation studio “United Productions of America” (UPA) and later became the creative director of Terrytoons.

Charles Joseph “Buddy” Bolden (September 6, 1877–November 4, 1931) was an African American cornet player who was regarded by contemporaries as a key figure in the development of a New Orleans style of ragtime music, or “jass”, which later came to be known as jazz. No recordings exist of him playing. The search for a recording by the legendary pioneer is still going on.
