Description

There are plenty of movies or characters that I’d love to have represented in my collection and sometimes it just means waiting until the right piece or artist comes along. In this case, it was Alex Riegel. To me, his style of work looks best when he is given some classic material to work with. I find that his horror pieces are phenomenal and in many ways his work is very reminiscent of some late 60’s, early 70’s promotional images. My first piece from him was a group shot of the Universal Monsters so while I had plenty of ideas on what to ask for next I ultimately decided to keep in the horror genre and ask for the Hammer Horror classic Curse of Frankenstein. The work from Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee in those Hammer films is such a treat and I am glad to have finally found the right way to represent that work in my art collection. I absolutely love what Alex did here. To me, this feels like a lobby card you’d have found in a theatre advertising a Hammer Horror marathon in the early 70’s. Just absolutely love this piece!

Riegel does it again! Always with a graphic design sense of the 60's, the piece is more vibrant and lively than the moody movies.
