DescriptionSo I've had this for a bunch of years now. I was so excited when I got it that I framed it before scanning!! When I was reintroduced into comics in the early 90's, this was one of the first titles I was introduced to. Although Neil Gaiman's Sandman was winning awards and garnering much attention (rightfully so), this series was one of the best crafted stories that I had ever read, equivalent to any book out there. Add to that amazing, moody art by Tom Mandrake (and guests), and I was hooked.Social/Sharing |

What a stunner! This can't be a coincidence. Were you watching my somewhat Spectre themed Show & Tell episode on Sunday night, Heidjer? This is just another sign that I really need to read this series!

I was watching it on replay. I was on the fence about posting it, since you don't like color mats. :-). You must read the series. there are two collections available.

Hahahaha! That's awesome! But as I always say, it's YOURS so all that matters is that YOU like it! Man, I don't even know what to say, it's just so spectacular looking! And yes, believe me, I INTEND to read it. Ceasar told me during the show that DC started collecting it again, which I assume are the 2 volumes you're talking about. But with Spectre never being a big seller, I'm scared to buy them because there's a strong chance they'll stop collecting them long before they get to the end....

Spectacular cover! Ostrander and Mandrakes story of Jim Corrigan is one of the best ever. A tour de force of story and art. Great cover. Congrats!

Great framing job! Very appropriate and classy as you always have to consider the rest of the decor in the house and not just frame to the piece like it was to be seen as a trading card. The illustrative linework by Mandrake is very strong and the 90's were a different animal in terms of horror! Nothing subtle about it with the damned underneath Corrigan.

Ostrander and Mandrake were in perfect synch on that series.

What an incredible cover. Technically, that approach that Tom took to do the Spectre, using the weighted lines to add speed/pain but also as a form of half-done cross-hatching, its incredibly difficult to pull off. Plus the faces are all done individually, in the own unique form of anguish, also not easy to do. Its just stellar. Congrats!

I agree with you on your choice of framing and how these stories rivaled Sandman. Congrats.

Mandrake is sadly underappreciated. Great cover.

Man, corner to corner, such an impressive piece! Unreal composition, only matched by the unreal line work. Must look that much better in person - I'm sure you've pored over lots :) Sweet frame job as well. Congrats!

Such a dynamic cover Heidjer, congrats! The motion lines really give it dimension. A cover featuring both The Spectre and Jim Corrigan from this great run is definitely a great aquisition.
