DescriptionDOWN THE RABBIT HOLE - X-MEN meets SLIDERSAnother really big checkbox cleared with a page from EXILES #1, a series I thoroughly enjoyed like ULTIMATE X-MEN (funny enough both ended at #100 for the initial run). A series that played away from the main Marvel continuity playground but broke ground in so many ways for continuing storylines/characters from AOA and various other alternate Marvel timelines in the multiverse. It was the X-MEN meets SLIDERS to tell really great WHAT IF storylines. The storylines were both really fun and also filled with heartache as the rotating cast of characters came in and were lost. This series featured a character that never really got to shine, Clarice Ferguson (aka BLINK), as she was lost too soon on Uncanny X-Men and came to her own in AOA. But this series was her vehicle and this is where we really came to know her and many others. Two other characters that really got developed and came to life in this series, making their Marvel continuity debut are Talia Wagner (aka NOCTURNE of Earth 2182) and John Proudstar (aka THUNDERBIRD of Earth 1100). This page features their origin (along with a bunch of other characters making their debut in their respective realities). The McKone/McKenna combination on Winick’s storylines really drove the action, humor and drama of this series. The art was always filled with emotion and lots of heartache. On this page. We get to know where Nocturne comes from, an alternate reality where her dad and Wolverine lead the X-Men. The second panel features a lot of fun characters, no sure who they all are but looks like Thunderbird, two characters I don’t recall, Wolverine, Nocturne, Nightcrawler, two more younger characters (maybe Banshee’s kids) and someone that looks like Cameron Hodge. Then we get some back story on how this version of Thunderbird came to be an agent of Apocalypse. His torture/murder of his old spirit to be transformed both physically and broken mentally to serve a monster known as Apocalypse. The art and story from this storyline and series really captured some great adventures and this page suits me well as a prime example from a series I really loved. Social/Sharing |

Loved the early issues of this series, and the first issue was a spectacular introduction to the book. Congrats on landing such a great page!

Like the page layout. I've gotten so used to McKone's pinups, it's nice to see his gorgeous detail on a panel page. Congrats!

I loved that series, especially under Winick' writing and McKone's art. Fun page.

What madness is this? Pirate Nightcrawler and Nightcrawler with very developed pecs. Surely I must be dreaming. Yet Wolverine is rocking the pinstripes so I have to be awake, I'm so confused.

Really dig how each panel's got its own scene set - and those are some rich inks. Works so well on McKone's work particularly. Really love panel 3, as I love me some Thunderbird :) Congrats!

Great example from issue one. I just reread the entire series this past month. What a great concept and book.
