DescriptionYou can have your Death of Superman pages. Keep your X-Men X-Overs. First appearances of Spidey's black pajamas aren't this cool. This is Robocop, and this book IS my childhood.Being a little young to see Paul Verhoeven's masterpiece in theaters when it first came out, the PG Marvel adaptation was the best I could do at the time. And that was a couple of bucks well spent. I don't know how many times I re-read that issue. Never mind that Robo's gun looked like an electric drill – something even 12-year-old me knew wasn't quite right. It was oversized. It was black and white. It just felt different. Edgier. Grown up. I've long been searching for a page from this book, and I can't tell you how thrilled I was to see several to choose from come up for auction. (And the cover. We won't talk about the cover. Or how much I wish I'd had the funds to go after it.) I could have gone after a page with some of that watered-down Verhoeven ultra-violence – and I might actually have ended up with another page or two – but this one was perfect. Dick Jones gets what is coming to him, and Murphy finds his humanity. Reading that last line, I can see it fade to black and hear the overture in my mind. And, like Murphy, I smile. Social/Sharing |

Same memory from the same big red oversized comic. I wasn't old enough to see the movie yet (10), but the comic was fair game. (Even with the ultraviolet cover folks said ok?) Glad they did.

Great batch of pages, and LOVE this capper one. One of my fave movies, and awesome to see it here in sequential comic goodness.
"Murphy."
Cue theme song!! I'm literally humming it as I type this.
Congrats, on this one and the whole batch, Mike!
