DescriptionWinner of the Eisner Award for Best Continuing Series in 2025.Original art for the cover to one of my favorite reads of 2022 (and 2023) featuring the Santos Sisters, Ambar and Alana, alongside the "Nature Ninjas." From the Comics Journal review of Santos Sisters #1... The implied conceit of this self-published comic is that it’s a superhero comedy from the Archie stable, with garishly colored three- to eight-page stories such as “Santos Sisters in ‘Scope: Feel the Tingle’” and “The Santos Sisters in ‘Outta Gas, Kiss My Dolphin Ass’”. The Santos Sisters themselves, Ambar and Alana, get an origin on the inside front cover in what looks like a travel or shampoo ad pastiche, a single image with text that reads: “One day while combing the beach, the Santos Sisters discovered a pair of beautiful medallions... What happened next changed their lives, forever.” What happened next, apparently, is that they put on medallions imbued with the powers of a goddess, “Madame Sosostris”, and can transform at will into flying, gun-wielding, mask-wearing murder-heroes with hearts of, if not gold, than at least candy. They are not altruistic, but they lean toward goodness. Not that any of these details matter all that much - the premise is not a setup for explorations of heroism, but rather as an engine for delivering weirdness and comedy. Social/Sharing |

OMG, I LOVE this! I'm always up for satirical versions of my beloved Archie comics. Especially when they contain the wokeness of two sisters but clearly adopted since they have obviously different skin tones and one of them with far larger breasts than the other. Throw in animal "ninjas" dressed in karate Gi and all for the low, low foreign exchange cover price of $5.00usd to $18.95 Canadian and I am in like flynn!

There were never such devoted sisters
Ambar and Alana chaperoned?, no sir
I'm here to keep my eye on her
Caring, sharing
Every Archie thing that we are wearing
When a Greg and Fake Petre from Chicago
She wore the dress and I stayed home
All kinds of weather
We stick together
The same in the rain or sun
Two different races
Butt in tight places
We think and we act as one, uh-huh
Those who've seen us
Know that not a thing could come between us
Animals have tried to split us up but no one can
Lord help the mister
Who comes between me and my sister
And lord help Mark Vega who comes between me and my fans

Freaky coolness from Archie Comics. Love the design of this comic--The Santos SIsters are oddly attractive and the ninja animals are strange and silly. Beautifully drawn and inked by Greg and Fake Petre! Fun to see where this one goes.

I just tried to buy the first issue due to your postings, and it seems to be sold out everywhere. Looks like you were way ahead of the curve on this one! I guess I'll need to get the second printing of #1.
