Stingray by Greg Hildebrandt

Red and white acrylic paint on black board, 20x30

The Hildebrandt signature use of light and shadow is on full display in this piece, but what truly amazes me is the depth (no pun intended) that Greg was able to create using just two colors. I've been a fan of the Brothers Hildebrandt since the Marvel Masterpieces trading card set they did in the 90s. If you had told me back then that I would one day own a Hildebrandt original, I probably wouldn't have believed you. The fact that my original piece is also of my Stingray is just icing on the cake. A grail piece for me.

I can guarantee this was the only time Greg drew/painted Stingray, and it is one of my most treasured pieces.
