Which piece in your gallery is your favorite and why?
Probably the Hildebrandt Stingray. The Hildebrandt's are legendary and I've loved their art for around 30 years at this point. I thought an original piece would be unobtainable, but I didn't realize Greg still does commissions. And now, not only do I own a Hildebrandt original, it's an original painting of Stingray.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I'm an IT guy. My body is a machine that turns money into art. I'm also a gamer (board, card, video) and amateur photographer. I still read lots of comics and am currently in the process of organizing my collection so that I can try to downsize it a bit.
How long have you been collecting comic art and what prompted you to start?
I've been collecting comic art for 10 years. It all started during my first trip to HeroesCon in 2014 when I realized Francesco Francavilla was going to be there and saw on social media that he was doing commissions. I ended up getting pieces from a couple other great artists that year. A year or two later I bought my first published page (from the Image book 'Manifest Destiny') at my local comic con.
How do you display/store your collection at home?
Currently a lot of my art is chilling in an art portfolio, but I'm slowly beginning to frame some stuff so that I can hang it up. The walls of my tiny one-bedroom apartment are going to fill up fast.
What are your top five most wanted original pages or commissions?
In no particular order: - A Preacher page. It's my favorite comic of all time. - the cover to Spectacular Spider-Man #185 - the first comic I ever read, which also made me laugh out loud. - The page with the "BUTT" sound effect from Spectacular #185 - an Alex Ross painting. more specifically, probably a cover from Astro City - some Stingray published art
