DescriptionOAX Pre-Show Commission!!!Jon Wayshak doesn't make you pay up front and he only accepts money *after* you've seen the piece and decide that you like it. He knows that his style is his own and may not be for everyone. But how could I not love this??? I had come prepared with a white envelope stuff full of cash and Wayshak's name scrawled across it. Immediately after having the piece presented to me, I slid the envelope across the table to Jon as though I were trying to be covert, which somehow made it more overt. Jon told me that the Scarlet Centurion is his favorite version of Iron Man and when he found out that this was the timeframe during which Iron Man went after Stingray for possible stolen Stark tech, it was on. I'm not sure if that's the empty shell of Iron Man's armor in the foreground, or if maybe this is Tony drowning, but wow! It appears that Stingray wasn't playing around. My prompt for this piece was simply, "Stingray" so the addition of Iron Man was a surprise, but it elevates the piece with a level of storytelling that I am pleasantly surprised by. Stingray has never looked more badass! The power emanating from his hands looks almost supernatural and his cape is phantasmal! In fact, it brings to mind 'Batman: Mask of the Phantasm'! Danny Elfman's score swirls in my head as I pore over every detail of this brilliant image. I had only paid for the black and white option on this one but Jon told me that he "felt it needed color". I couldn't agree more!!! The splash of red really sets the whole piece off, making it more dramatic and angry. The way the red seems to be emanating from Stingray, lighting the smoke behind him, only adds to the idea that this Stingray is powerful and dangerous. Enough to make light work of Iron Man. This was done on an 11x17 board that apparently got cut a little wonky on the left side. Social/Sharing |

Congrats on this epic and WILD piece, great addition to the Stingray set! the splash of Red is perfect and love how he worked in the Iron man story elements into the piece. Gotta respect an artist who won't accept money prior to the customer being happy, makes me wonder if there's anyone who actually saw their result and said no thanks...somehow I don't see it happening but I guess you never know.

Jeeesuus! Another stellar piece for your collection! The touch of red is perfect. You might think it would keep your attention there, but the large Ironman mask draws your attention so that you drink in the entire artwork. Congrats

I think Way$hak channeled classical biblical themed illustration like Dante's Inferno to bring Stingray deeper into the depths to fight his demons!
