DescriptionAfter waking up groggy, Scott is startled by Beast who has been hanging out in the shower. Scott blasts Beast, trapping him in the shower. While helping Beast out, he and Scott discuss the weeks where Dark Beast had been impersonating him during the Onslaught invasion. Once out, Beast says “You did it Scott, I’m free, free! God I love that word. I google thank yous.” Scott replies, “At least one you’re welcome!” Beast replies, “Hey, in case I haven’t mentioned it yet - - in the words of one syllable - - it’s good to be home!” - - - - This comic, and this page especially, rekindle so much nostalgia for me. It was a time when the X-men were a small, close nit group of mutants sharing Xavier’s mansion and dream. Scott and Jean were leading the team. Beast was fun loving, jovial, and in many ways, the glue that bridged the X-men with the Avengers at the time of Onslaught. (Imagine going back to a Hank McCoy everyone loves). Some might say this page doesn’t have a lot of action, but to me, it signifies an era in X-men comics. And at the height of Fall of X, which is currently underway, I think it hits a little different. A few comics later Marvel would add a banner to the X-men comics that said “Worlds Greatest Comics.” All these years later, they still are! Social/Sharing |

Beautiful sentiments. We started around the same time. DEATH OF SUPERMAN/FUNERAK FOR A FRIEND was my intro as graphic novels compiling those issues. Then I jumped onto the X books as well and never looked back. Awesome that you got a page from such a significant issue you grew up with. I preferred these simpler times as well, I do really enjoy the Hickman world of Krakoa and am currently sad to see it go away. The people of X are getting spread too far out and it's getting complicated to collect all their stories. And I also really enjoyed the lovable kind Beast, but what seems to be happening is a power corruption with that character and an evolution to the Dark Beast we all thought he came from the AOA when some things are just destined. Great page featuring the characters we love in a simpler time. Congrats!

Thanks so much!!! Yeah it was a great time! And I agree- the X-men are spread pretty thin these days! And who wants to buy all 10+ comics that are our right now?!

I recognized this page right away because Uncanny #337 was one of the first comics I ever bought as a new release instead of something I dug out of a quarter bin. I remember $3 CAD feeling like a lot of money for a comic back then haha. Nice pickup, this was a fun slice of life issue.

Perfect way to describe it! I got it for 1.99 and I remember my mom thinking that was a lot hahaha!

I don't remember seeing this on CAF before (and I thought I had seen all of the Joe Mad pages), but in any case, congrats on being able to add a page from an issue with so much personal meaning! Uncanny 337 was a nice quiet issue for the team to regroup after everything that happened with Onslaught, and this page has a fun moment between Scott and Hank.

I didn't know it then, but Joe Mad made me a comic book fan back when I randomly bought Uncanny X-Men #316 all those years ago. Flipping through that book opened up a new world. Congrats on owning an original from a master.
