Description

16�x24� (frame 29�x37�) Done about 2010; purchased in 2014. Howard's career began in 1959. He emerged from the Art Center of Los Angeles and began a decade of work in Detroit illustrating for the auto industry. He didn't illustrate cars, but instead he illustrated the people who went into the cars. As the auto industry moved towards photography instead of illustrations for their advertisements, Howard headed to New York to work for publishing houses, advertising agencies, and magazines. He did illustrations for McCall's, Good Housekeeping, Harlequin Romance novels, and W.S. George, and eventually started painting the cowboys, horses, and nudes for which he would become quite well known.

Visually pleasing with the warm bedroom setting and partial state of undress that teases the senses. The delicate painting of this elegant pose delivers something that appeals to a sophisticated audience.

I agree with Mark ... love the colors. I also enjoy the draping of the sheeting, both on the woman and the bed.
